Support for Ist Raglan Scouts trip to Italy

Raglan Scouts 1

The Roger Edwards Educational Trust has been amazing in regularly supporting individuals from 1st Raglan Scout Group to participate in trips to Italy. Supporting individuals ultimately helps the whole group.

Raglan Scouts is an inclusive, very active, well attended and thriving group, made up of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. There are currently more than 70 children and young people involved who range in age from 6-17 and benefit from the dedicated voluntary input of more than 15 adults. Scouts and Explorers (to whom the Italy trip is offered) naturally come from a variety of backgrounds, abilities and life experiences.

The Scout group has a very positive relationship with an Italian Scout group and try to visit about every four years. This is a massive undertaking as well as a huge (and costly) adventure. Activities have included via-ferrata climbing, hiking, open water swimming, sailing, bobsleigh, rafting, pasta making, visits to cities and to an opera. These activities, as well as the experience of the whole trip, provide amazing “once in a lifetime” opportunities for young people. This undoubtedly helps to develop independence, confidence, team work, social skills, and an appreciation of other communities; all fantastic life skills. Parents often report how their child seems to have “grown up” since their Scout trip to Italy. Some young people have described their Italy experience as “the best ever”.

Thanks to the Roger Edwards Educational Trust such amazing trips are more affordable and more accessible for all those involved in 1st Raglan Scout Group.

Thank you!
